We started our day off in Somobor with a brisk walk/run into town for a cappuccino. Somobor is beautiful, standard Croatian town with a cute catholic church, an old square, and a nice little river we ran along.
We then headed out for rijeka on the coast! The drive was beautiful and fast, only about 2 hours or less on the highway. Stopped in rijeka for an hour and bought some fresh fruit at this huge open air market. Continuing down the coast we went to opatija, with a beautiful walkway along the Adriatic and delicious food! We ate lunch at this little place and had homemade pasta with truffles in a cream sauce and wine. Some creepy Italian guy (pictured below) tried to sell McCall overpriced jewelry and was quite handsy). Next we're off to lovran, where i will find some more cherry brandy and then to pula where there are some good looking vineyards and roman ruins.
Istria is the "new Tuscany"-- today we hit the little sea side villages bursting with flowers and little winding stone alleys that all lead down to the beautiful sea! It is amazing. Tomorrow we venture inland and stop at these little towns recommended by a nice young wine seller who let us taste a bunch of stuff! More tomorrow!

ReplyDelete2. take more photos of the signs. (close ups) I love them! Like the one that (I assume) means, "massages this way"
