Our day in Zagreb!

We both woke up around 4am this morning and couldn't fall back asleep. We held off getting up until 6:30 or 7 though, which seemed like a more decent hour to venture out into the city. Zagreb is gorgeous! The weather this morning was perfect--80 and sunny without a cloud in the sky.

It is only 2pm right now and we've walked around most of the town and our back at the hostel resting.

We began our day in old town by having cappuccinos at a leisurely cafe, watching parents walking by with their little kids on the way to school. Very relaxing. Then we went to the museum of broken relationships... Depressing and strange, but also interesting, and voted one of the beat museums of europe in 2011. They have an interesting memento from a breakup or relationship and stories to go along with them.
Then we took a leisurely jaunt through the botanical gardens, and sat down to rest our feet and have a nice lunch back up in old town with a glass of delicious istrian wine :) We stopped by the dolac outdoor market on the way back to the hostel and bought some veggies, fruit and nice olive oil for dinner, the hostel has a nice kitchen we want to make use of. After a short nap, we'll be back out on the town to check out some bars and get "the best hot chocolate in Zagreb" at Tolkeins house, which our guidebook recommends and has lord of the rings decorations.

  1. Wow, the roof on that church (mosque?) is amazing! Dont forget your sunscreen/ hats!
I met two ladies riding past our house yesterday just as I was saddling Benny. They invited me to ride to the trailhead with them. It was so nice.
