Today Is the last day of our journey together ... We've been through Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and back to Croatia. Its been a blast! Tomorrow morning McCall leaves at the crack of dawn to catch her flight to Pisa through Rome, then I have a day to relax on the beach before I depart on the red-eye for Istanbul to meet up with Evan!
We spent today walking the walls of the Dubrovnik old town in the high heat of the morning. From there you can see the most beautiful views of all the red tile rooftops and stone steeples and copper domes of churches against the bright blue sea-- very pretty. It was Hot Hot Hot. Whew. And exhausting. Our two weeks of craziness sermed ti hit us all at once (and the fact that we drank a liter of water each this morning in lieu of our usual cappuccinos...) so we were dragging our feet a bit. we wandered through the white stone streets of old town Dubrovnik visiting several museums (the coolest was in the rectors palace... Did you know that the independent dubrovnik republic lasted 1000 years! (until napoleon spoiled everything)) until we were thoroughly exhausted and returned to our apartment on the bus, where we napped and packed... We'll see if mcCall can make it on the plane without one or both (shes taking the suitcase i bought loaded with wine and truffles lol) of her bags being overweight.
I guess this is the end of our Croatian section of the great escape! McCall and I may continue this blog from our respective locations---
